YMCA Bournemouth:

Local impact, global heritage

The YMCA operates in 120 countries worldwide. But impact happens locally. Our challenge was to tell the story of YMCA Bournemouth - one autonomous branch that's turned global values into local action since 1879.

Telling their

story

This wasn't just about showcasing a charity. It was about revealing how one organisation supports people through their entire life journey - from teaching children to swim, through teenage years, family support, counselling, and into older age. Where most organisations specialise, YMCA Bournemouth takes a whole-life view.

We crafted a documentary that shows how this approach works in practice. The film reveals an organisation that's both part of a global movement and deeply rooted in Bournemouth's community. It demonstrates how they've evolved from their origins as a men's social club to become a contemporary force for change - one that understands local needs and responds with professional solutions.

Community

impact

The story works because it connects these two scales - the individual moments of transformation and the broader pattern of community impact. A young person finding their voice through youth work.

A family rebuilding relationships through counselling. A community discovering connection through shared spaces. Each story adds to a bigger picture of an organisation that's both historically significant and currently vital.

Increased

awareness

Our structured approach shows how YMCA Bournemouth builds on its heritage while staying relevant. They're not just part of a global brand - they're an autonomous local force, using business acumen to fuel social purpose. This is what modern charity looks like: professional, sustainable, and deeply human.
