Hall & Woodhouse Christmas
No Santa by the fire this time
Hall & Woodhouse wanted to break away from typical pub Christmas campaigns. No Santa by the fire this time. Instead, we proposed an animation of cut-out landscapes rushing towards a final brand reveal.
The concept showcased H&W's pub network diversity, from rural spots to city flagships. It sounded simple. It wasn't.
A Family Business
Founded on trust
Designing 2D elements for 3D motion is tricky. We used After Effects, working out the math for layer scaling and movement. It was like staging a play, but with more dimensions and a much bigger stage.
Our hardware struggled with the project's size. We used proxies and simplification techniques to manage. We also developed a way to fade distant layers, creating a fog effect.
Fifteen years
Working together
The final render added in more detailed snow simulations.
The result took H&W's brand in a new direction. It worked because we know them well. Fifteen years of working together means we can take creative risks that pay off.
This project reminded us why we like working with H&W. They're open to fresh ideas, and we understand their brand. It's a good mix.
Christmas campaign
Stood out
In the end, we delivered a Christmas campaign that stood out. It was different, but still felt like Hall & Woodhouse. That's the point.
